For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.
Ephesians 6:12 AMP

God created you to be free and live free. Even now, His plan for you is to be free—in your spirit, in your soul and in your body. None of us is born into freedom—we are born into the bondage of sin. Sin exalts itself against the truth of God’s word and habitual sin is a stronghold in your mind. The key to your freedom from bondage and demonic strongholds lies in your obedience and submission to Christ.

The enemies we face in this life are not other people, but the devil and his demons. His ultimate plan is to kill you and send you to a lost eternity through sin and disobedience. If he can get you to take others with you, if he can get you to destroy other lives, he will do it. He doesn’t care what you do as long as the end result is eternal death—eternal separation from God. The greatest lie of the devil is that your freedom lies in following your own impulses and lusts. He is there to tempt you and to drag you down into the gutter of sin as far as he can. He knows full well that the wages of sin is death. The devil’s plan is to get you so tied up in sin that you cannot break free—to erect strongholds of sin and rebellion in your mind that keep you in bondage and drive you deeper into sin and death.

Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:12-13 NKJV

Sin is a deceiver—it is never satisfied—it is like a fire that cannot be quenched. Once you start on a particular path of sin, you will find that you are always drawn in deeper and deeper. Sin comes to harden your heart and pull you away from God—His protection and His blessings. When people—even Christians—yield to sin and make it a way of life, their heart becomes harder and harder and they move further and further away from the Living God. You are either both moving toward God, and freedom, and away from sin and bondage, or you are moving away from God and freedom, and toward sin and bondage.

The more you yield to temptations, the more you lose control of your own life. Sin is ruling and dominating you more and more. It’s a slippery slope. As you yield to sin and fleshly lusts, so you are yielding yourself also bit by bit into the control of the devil—all the time he is gaining more and more dominion in your life. You find yourself at a place where you are powerless to stop on your own—you need divine intervention! The devil’s plan is to defile God’s special creation—Man—so that he can possess and control them. Because the devil is a thief, even after you give your heart and life to Jesus, he is trying to tempt, deceive, control and destroy you. The devil wants to live in your house, but God says that you are created to be the temple of the Living God!

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 AMP says, “Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own].” You have been bought and paid for by the precious blood of Jesus and you owe Him your life. The devil has no right to try to move in to a house that already belongs to God! Verse 20 goes on to say, “So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.” You have an obligation to yourself to keep your house pure and clean. When you honor God, you keep the devil out!

God gives us armor for protection and weapons to fight the good fight. The weapons of our warfare are not weapons we can see, hear, touch, taste or smell—they are not man’s weapons—they are spiritual weapons. Our armor is truth, integrity, righteousness, the reality of the Gospel, faith, and salvation and our weapons are the Word of God and prayer. God’s word is a blueprint for a life of freedom and joy—now and in eternity. We can each choose this freedom by choosing obedience to God, His word and His way.

I was born on Kauai and went to Bi Island 15 years ago. I have been witnessing on my island, but today was the first time I witnessed on Kauai where I was born and I led 9 people to Jesus today. All of the people I witnessed to knew me and they commented that I was radiant and a different person than when I lived here. They appreciated what I was doing and told her that Kauai needs this.

I never thought I would do bus ministry, my brother had done bus ministry and I remember him always talking about the people and how rewarding it was. Well, he was right, I’ve been involved in a lot of helps ministry at the River but this is by far my favorite because I’m walking in my destiny simply by meeting the needs of the people; ministry.

That’s what ministry is all about no matter if it’s in Tampa or across this country or even on the other side of the world, and I must say its nice not to have to be jet lagged in order to see hundreds of people get saved and blessed and lives changed. We can do what the bible talks about in Acts 1:8 “….and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.”  This past Sunday The River @ Tampa Bay that’s exactly what we did, we hosted “Operation Raven” where we gave away hundreds of boxes of food and toys to underprivileged families in need.

I was lucky enough to be a part of this seeing first hand the faces of the children and the parents get on the bus feeling exhausted and beaten done with the cares of life and after service feeling refreshed and blessed, saying “you don’t know how much I needed this food”, or saying “I love this church, this is a good church,” I overheard another lady on my bus talk about how at home she felt and comfortable because she wasn’t able to dress up at other churches she felt embarrassed or out of place but at ‘her church’ she knew she would feel loved no matter what she was wearing. This is what ministry is all about, and I’m thankful that I can be apart of a church who practices what it preaches. I’ve been down here five years and every year God stretches and grows us, I can’t wait to see what He will do next!

During Math class 2nd period, I read the script to Leizell during the last 30 min. of class (free time) and she accepted Jesus into her heart. My friend Tyren asked her how she felt and she said she felt happy.

I am grateful to God for joining me to the River Church Ministry. In the deepest part of my soul I have yearned for God to use me to be a witness for Him. My desire has always been to go deeper in the things of God. My life’s goal was to be used by God in the fullest and to touch the lives of people with the love of God. I longed to be used as a mouthpiece to do and to say the things He wanted me to say and to be bold while doing it. I had been looking for a church like the River since I was 21 and now that I am here I truly believe that God has fulfilled one of the deepest desires of my heart.

Everything I wanted in a church home the River provided. Since being here I am in awe at how God answered my prayer in detail. Since coming to the River I have been eternally changed from the inside out and I have been used mightily to touch the lives of many people. I am grateful to God for allowing me to be apart of such a Holy Spirit filled church. I believe the vision of Pastor Rodney and Adonica to see souls saved is evident in our church and the vision has passed down to the congregation and has now become the heartbeat of my life.

Because of this ministry I now feel revived, alive and energized to fulfill the call of God on my life. As a result, of Pastor Rodney & Adonica and the River church family I now have a passion for lost and a greater hunger for the things of God. I know that since coming here my hunger and thirst for God has heightened and my craving for souls and the things of God will last a lifetime.

All week I have seen soul-winners going out. I went soul-winning in Maui. I am a director of minstry. I am getting lots of feedback from the people winning souls.

On Sunday, December 13th, we in the bus ministry had to be at the church earlier than the normal time of  7:00am.  We were expecting a larger crowd than usual due to the fact that on this particular Sunday, we were to give out toys and bicycles to the children for Christmas.

Well, it was a good thing we started earlier for my usual route because the buses were full after the first two stops, but we were prepared with another bus just two blocks away.  Normally, the buses are about 1/3 less filled.

All the kids were very excited and had to wear wrist bands in order to receive their present.

My being in the food ministry also, gave me another viewpoint.  I could see a very busy day loading the boxes of food to be distributed later after service.

We have a very faithful group of bus riders who help in this ministry.  It’s an all male group that helps load the boxes of food on the buses each week.  We have gotten to know each other very well and enjoy each others’ company while doing the ‘behind the scenes’ work.

But on this particular Sunday, we asked if anyone would mind helping, if needed, to hand out the toys.  Although we had already been told that we had plenty of help, not one single guy said, “No”.

They really are a special group of men, because what they do each Sunday is hard work and with the holidays around the corner, we are expecting to get even busier.  But, that only makes us even happier to know that we are going to be really busy!!!  Praise God!

This Sunday we all had a great time and everyone left in high spirits.

We are all looking forward to next Sunday.  It promises to be an truly exciting time for us that are involved with the bus and food ministries.

This was my first time soul-winning. There was a scary looking guy that was smiling afterwards. I led 5 people to the Lord. Go for it.

I was thrilled to serve my house and Pastor’s Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne with an awesome Super Sunday week-end [13^th December] 09. Being apart of The River Tampa Bay church, as well as being a Bible school student has changed my life. The things God has shown me, taught me, etc have been life changing.

 On the 13^th of December, I had the privilege of working with The River Kids. Little did I know what a surprise I was in for. Growing up with parents who are pastors, travelling the world with them on revivals, I could say that I’ve had my fair share of attending more than 100 different children’s churches. But I can truly say that Sunday, the 13^th of December, was something I had never quite experienced before, in a Children’s Church. At the age of 20, I truly wanted to be a child again.

 I had never heard such a massive scream in my life, as to who loved Jesus – The boys against the girls. Competitions that even I found I couldn’t take my eyes off of. The children were truly captivated with the message Joe Manner had put across to them, using eggs, whipped cream, and water as a demonstration of sin and how God washes us clean. (I’m sure you can imagine how fun that would be.) The children learned about how God loved them – and watching 154 children give their lives to Jesus, in just 1 service, was powerful. We also gave away toys (including bikes), to all the children between the ages of 0-16years.

 Never before had I seen such a change in children. They had walked in the doors of The River Kids in the morning with such a weight on their shoulders, to then them leaving with smiles, toys, and the joy. They, having had the most fun in a long time, with a message of how special they, are and how Jesus loved them. Children of all ages, backgrounds, and races; at the end of the service, all had something in common – that Jesus lived in their hearts. I’m beyond blessed to have helped out with The River Kids.

Today I preached to 5 people it was awesome, it was a new experienced to me. I would love to do it again. Jessica was a cool leader. she helped us a lot because at first we—really shy it was fun

This was my first Sunday in the children’s church. We arrived at the church at 8.am and were given information and our assignments for the day. The children were to sit on the floor along marked lines, boys on one side and girls on one side. My job was mainly to be responsible for the girls on two of the front rows.

 I felt like things over all went quite smoothly in children’s church this day, taken into consideration the number of children that was present, and the fact that for many of them it was their first time coming. I believe that was both because the qualifications of the regular workers and the presence of the anointing.

 It seemed like the kids enjoyed all the games, and also the excitement when four bikes were given away. When it came time for preaching to the kids, the children’s minister painted a very vivid picture of Jesus suffering and death. The children listened well most of the time. It seemed like at the end, though, some of them had reached the end of their attention-span. When the alter call was given, approximately 150 children responded. It was great to know that many of these children had come on the buses and was a harvest from the church’s soul winning efforts. We know there was great rejoicing in heaven.

 I noticed especially a little girl of maybe 7 or 8 years of age that probably came on one of the buses. She seemed to be a little easily distracted, and I was thinking she might be from a difficult home-situation. As the gospel was preached, I was not sure whether she listened to what was said or not. But when the alter call was given I was happy to see that she went forward together with all the other children.

 It is wonderful to see how the kids respond to the gospel. We as adults have a lot to learn from them. I am reminded of how Jesus told the disciples in Matt.18 that they had to change and become like little children to enter the kingdom of heaven. It seems to be easier for children to humble themselves and realize that they their need for help and a savior.

The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and calls the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. 2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth. 3 Our God comes and does not keep silence; a fire devours before Him, and round about Him a mighty tempest rages. 4 He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that He may judge His people: 5 Gather together to Me My saints [those who have found grace in My sight], those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice. 6 And the heavens declare His righteousness (rightness and justice), for God, He is judge. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! 7 Hear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify to you and against you: I am God, your God. 8 I do not reprove you for your sacrifices; your burnt offerings are continually before Me. 9 I will accept no bull from your house nor he-goat out of your folds. 10 For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills or upon the mountains where thousands are. 11 I know and am acquainted with all the birds of the mountains, and the wild animals of the field are Mine and are with Me, in My mind. 12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are Mine. 13 Shall I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? 14 Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High, 15 And call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall honor and glorify Me.  Psalms 50:1-15 AMP

Almighty God is the Creator and Law-giver of heaven and earth. He is our one and only Judge and the only One we should fear (reverential fear). Only He has the right to judge and His judgments are sure and true and final. At the same time, He is also a merciful judge who willingly accepts an appropriate offering given with a right heart and pure motive. He is very slow to anger and very quick to forgive!  In verse 5 He says, “Gather together to Me My saints – those who have found grace in My sight – those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.” The covenant we have with the Father is wholly based on the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Because of Jesus, God’s grace is freely poured out on His children.

God is not blood-thirsty, but it takes blood to wash away sin (verse 13). Jesus’ blood paid the price once and for all. He did what we cannot do. If we truly have a revelation of the price paid by the Father and the Son, we would never, ever take Him or His grace for granted.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination, hateful and exceedingly offensive to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is His delight! 9 The way of the wicked is an abomination, extremely disgusting and shamefully vile to the Lord, but He loves him who pursues righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation).  Proverbs 15:8-9 AMP

To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me [unless they are the offering of the heart]? says the Lord. I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts [without obedience]; and I do not delight in the blood of bulls or of lambs or of he-goats [without righteousness]. 
Isaiah 1:11 AMP

Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim (household good luck images). 
1 Samuel 15:22-23a AMP

All the sacrifices in the world cannot make up for a wayward heart. The sacrifices of wicked, rebellious, disobedient people are unacceptable to the Lord. Proverbs 21:3 AMP says, “To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”  The sacrifices God expects from His children are the sacrifices of obedience and thanksgiving that spring from a righteous heart.

Hebrews 10:5-7 (AMP) quotes Psalms 40:5-8 here: “Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world, He said, Sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body for Me [to offer]; 6 In burnt offerings and sin offerings You have taken no delight. 7 Then I said, Behold, here I am, coming to do Your will, O God — [to fulfill] what is written of Me in the volume of the Book.” Psalms 40:6 AMP says, “You have given me the capacity to hear and obey Your law.”

These are the words spoken by Jesus, concerning God’s plan and purpose for His life. The success of Jesus’ mission was in His absolute obedience to the will of the Father. Jesus is God, but He still humbled Himself to obey the Father – even unto death. Jesus was submitted to the Father and He was also submitted to His Word. We are not better than Jesus! So many Christians do not respect the Word of God. You know they don’t because they don’t obey it! They just do what they want to do. They might ask God to forgive them if they want something from Him that they can’t get any other way, or if they find themselves in a mess they can’t rescue themselves out of, but otherwise they just follow the lusts of their eye and the lusts of their flesh.

It’s time to remember and keep our covenant with our Father God. God is not there for your convenience, at your beck and call, to jump when you say, “jump”! God is not your servant, He is your Master! You owe Him everything. Your eternal outcome is in His hands. Selfishness, disobedience and rebellion are disrespectful to the Lord. It’s time to honor Him with our respect and obedience!

Now after the Sabbath, near dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to take a look at the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled the boulder back and sat upon it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his garments as white as snow. 4 And those keeping guard were so frightened at the sight of him that they were agitated and they trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, Do not be alarmed and frightened, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, Who was crucified. 6 He is not here; He has risen, as He said [He would do]. 1. Around the world, people worship idols of wood and stone—gods that have eyes that cannot see, ears that cannot hear, and a mouth that cannot speak.

We worship the One and Only True and Living God—Creator of heaven and earth.

Religion is man trying to reach God by or through millions of ways—Christianity is God reaching out to man by and through One Way and One Person—the Way, the Truth, and the Life—Jesus Christ!

John 3:16-17 AMP—For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten ( unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.

2. The One we worship is alive and we are allowed to have a personal relationship with Him 24/7.

Worship involves intimacy:
It’s a love relationship
He loves us and we love Him
He loved us before we knew Him and while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us
He gave us His all
Ephesians 5:25 AMP—Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.

Ephesians 5:32 AMP—This mystery is very great, but I speak concerning [the relation of] Christ and the church.
It’s a marriage—He is the Groom and we are the Bride of Christ

Jesus’ Blood was given as an offering for sin and a purchase of our freedom.

Jesus’ Body was given as an offering for sin and a purchase of our freedom.

3. A week before He was crucified, Jesus made a triumphal entry into Jerusalem, but even as they worshipped Him, He wept over Jerusalem.

Luke 19:41-42 NKJV—Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

They missed their Day of Visitation—much like the modern Church!

4. Today—and every day—we can celebrate the Resurrection—He’s alive—He lives—He reigns!

Worship involves a sacrifice.

He loved us and He loves us now—He gave His body and His blood—as a ransom for many.

We love Him—we give our hearts, our minds, our bodies, our finances—and we worship Him.

We interact with Him
He speaks—we listen
We speak—He hears
He loves on us
We love on Him
We tell about Him
He tells about us

Will you worship Him today—spirit, soul and body?
Will you give Him your all—your best?

Jesus needed a vehicle. If this happened today, He’d say, “Now go to the dealership down the road, and you’ll see a car on the lot. Just get in it and bring it over here. If they ask what you’re doing with the car, just say; “My Master has need of it. We’ll bring it back.” There was a need, and God provided for that need.

When they needed the upper room, the same thing happened. In Mark 14:12-16, the apostles said they needed a place to get together for the Passover meal. Jesus told them to look for a man with a big pot and to follow him home. “Go in there,” Jesus said, “and tell them that we need their guest room. You’ll find everything laid out for you.”

God provides, no matter how impossible it looks. He furnishes a table in the wilderness. He makes the crooked paths straight. He’ll provide for you. All He wants you to do is to trust Him. Will you trust Him? Maybe you want to go to Bible school, but you’re worried about your tuition. Would you trust Him? If you can’t believe God for your tuition, how are you ever going to believe God when it comes to funding your ministry or missions operation?

A lot of people have said, “Well, you know, it’s great that you preach this message of provision and all that, but Jesus didn’t have anything and Jesus even said it Himself, ‘Foxes have holes, birds have nests, but the Son of man hath not where to lay His head.’” Jesus didn’t have a home because He didn’t need one. What He did need, He got. You don’t really need anything when you’re all you need. When you walk on water just as a hobby, do you think you’re going to lose one night’s sleep about a need? Jesus knows what you have need of, though.

He knows you have a family. He knows you need to work and earn money to provide for your family. He knows! That’s why He tells you to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added — not subtracted — unto you. He knows what you have need of!

For years my family didn’t need a home either. We just traveled, lived in hotels, and kept our stuff in storage. For years we’d wanted to get a home, but we’d stopped talking about it, because every time we asked the Lord if we could get a home, He said no. I said, “Lord, I’d love to give my wife and kids a house. I don’t want the kids growing up in a hotel room.”

When the revival broke out in central Florida in 1993, the Lord spoke to me and said, “It’s time for you to get a home, son. Go and get some property, and build a house for your family.” So we soon found the piece of property and started building the house.

One day, as I was walking out on the foundation, I just lifted up my hands with tears rolling down my cheeks and said, “Lord, thank You so much for this house for my family.” As I said that, the Lord spoke to me audibly and said, “Son, you’ve built My house for the last fourteen years. Now I’m going to build your house.”

I said, “Lord, do You really mean that? You’re going to build my house?” He said, “Yes, you watch it, I’m building your house. I’ll make a way for you.” Jesus knew my desire. It’s such a pleasure just to come home, to have a place called “home.”

When we moved into the house, I got my wife and the kids together and said, “This home is just a blessing from God, and if God tells us to give it away, we will.” You see, everything we have belongs to Him — we’re just stewards, managers, of what He blesses us with. As Stewards, we need to do whatever He tells us to do with everything we have. So if He ever needs my house, He has it without a question.

When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi,

he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I

the Son of man am ?

And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist:

some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the

prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I

am?

MATTHEW 16:13-15

Jesus asked the disciples two questions. “Whom do men

say that I am?” And then, “Whom do you say that I am?” I believe

that these two questions will be asked of you as you read this

book. Jesus wanted to know who His disciples thought He was,

and now He wants to know who you think He is.

Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the

Son of the living God.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou,

Simon Bar-jona; for flesh and blood hath not revealed it

unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon

this rock [of revelation] I will build my church; and the

gates of hell will not prevail against it.

MATTHEW 16:16-18 (INSERT MINE)

I want you to notice something. Peter saw something that

day. His eyes were opened and he saw who Jesus really was. As

we step into this new millennium, what the world needs more

than anything is to see Jesus clearly. Unfortunately, most people

see Jesus through the eyes of religion and tradition.

When we went to Disney World to see their Christmas

production one year, we saw people put out their cigarettes and

stand there with tears rolling down their cheeks, singing about

the babe who was born in Bethlehem. Everybody can get tearful

about a baby. If you keep Him as a baby, you don’t have to

accept Him as the Lord of your life.

Jesus is born at Christmas and He dies at Easter. At

Easter, Jesus is on the cross. The world again stands with tears

rolling down their cheeks, this time about the fact that Jesus

died. But you know what? They still don’t make Him their

Lord. To be born again and make heaven their home, they have

to invite the risen Lord Jesus to come and make His home on

the inside of them. They have to see, and believe, that the tomb

is empty.

The world says that Jesus was just a good man. Some

say He was a prophet in a long line of prophets. Others say He

was an eccentric. Some say He was a martyr. And others say He

was a fairy tale. Children are raised to believe in the tooth

fairy; the Easter bunny; Santa Claus, and Jesus Christ. We’ve

put Jesus in there with the fairy tales, and when children eventually

find out the fairy tales are not real, they start to wonder

about Jesus too.

But Jesus is not a fairy tale; He’s a living reality.

What is very interesting is that every year is marked on

the calendar as the year of our Lord. 2000 AD. Anno Domini —

AD — is Latin for “year of our Lord.” You don’t see it written
